On the 21st June 1931, the Schienenzeppelin broke the speed record for rail travel at 230km/h (140mph) between Hamburg and Berlin. This ambitious and optimistic vision became a symbol of the future, representing the needs of the modern world, speed and science, city to city, which are things we now take for granted. However, at the time it was considered too much too soon and never became a reality for everyday use, instead, it was dismantled for the Second World War. 88 years to the day we attempted to let the Schienenzeppelin fly once more by the rails where it broke the record, projected on a disused station on the Hamburg to Berlin line while the modern passenger trains fly by at a similar speed.

1931 年 6 月 21 日、シーネンツェッペリンは、ハンブルク ⇄ ベルリン間を時速 230km/h (140mph) で通過し、鉄道の最高速度を更新しました。この野心的なビジョンは、現代社会のニーズ、スピードと科学、都市から都市への移動など、今では当たり前となったことを象徴する未来のシンボルとなりました。しかし、当時はあまりにも早すぎると考えられ、日常的に使用されることはなく、第二次世界大戦のために解体されてしまいました。88年後の今日、私たちは、ハンブルクからベルリンを繋ぐの路線の廃駅にシーネンツェッペリンの記録を映し出ます。現代の旅客列車が同じような速度でこの線路を通過している今、もう一度シーネンツェッペリンをレールの上で走らせられるよう試みました。
